Client Case Study: Phyllis Morris

In August 2005, Phyllis Morris, a high-end retail sector client in the custom furnishing business, wanted to penetrate the Gulf market with a particular focus on Dubai. At their disposal was one name of a potential partner recommended by a family friend. Not knowing where or how to begin, needing concrete leads to make an informed decision and lacking a concrete action plan to implement their international expansion strategy, the company needed direction and a solid roadmap. High on their list of objectives was to define the pros and cons of possible joint ventures, identify legal concerns and free zone options, mitigate risks in barriers to entry vis a vis competition and pay close attention to fraudulent copies and knockoffs.
